Vietnam Scaling up the response to HIV AIDS

Agulhas supported the development of a new phase of funding of up to £20m builds on DFID’s current £17m commitment (to end Dec 2008) for a similar purpose, and will deepen the Government of Vietnam’s response to HIV through a programme jointly funded by the World Bank. HIV/AIDS in Vietnam is concentrated among IDU and female CSWs. Only a brief window of opportunity remains to prevent a more generalised epidemic. DFID’s assistance will focus on strengthening the government’s ability to reduce harmful behaviour among vulnerable groups.
