An Agulhas team researched, developed and delivered a Measuring Transparency Index that ranked 10 country governments for their revenue transparency in dealing with extractive industries (oil and gas). Governments have a key role to play in improving transparency by publicly reporting the revenues they receive for oil and gas resources. Governments can also play a role in improving the transparency of revenues through company disclosure. Governments have the power through accounting listing and securities regulations to require companies to publish what they pay wherever they operate. See
