Gemma is experienced in programme management and international relations in conflict states, most notably in East Africa. She is based in Kenya.
Gemma has a background in governance and security and has worked with both the United Kingdom's Foreign Office and DFID, contributing to government policy and developing effective communication channels with the UK public. She is experienced in applying innovative thinking to overcome development challenges in complex environments.
Gemma's recent consultancy work has included support to civil society in Kenya, evaluation and re-design of aid effectiveness approaches in Kyrgyzstan and Kenya, programme management support for DFID's governance work in Somalia. Gemma is building experience in climate change issues, looking at the link to Disaster Risk Reduction in the Asia Pacific region, and the political economy of climate change in East Africa.
