Building core capacity
Over a third of the world’s poor inhabit fragile states, where weak institutions, political instability and resource conflicts create exceptional challenges for effective development assistance. Donors and international agencies are developing strategies to enhance human security, while building upon available state capacity. The coordination of responses to humanitarian crises remains a perennial challenge.
Agulhas advises donors and international agencies on effective aid delivery in difficult environments. We support state- and institution-building in conflict-affected countries. We advise on human rights protection strategies, and responding to land and resource conflicts. We advise on disaster preparedness and response, including effective information systems.
