Peter Grant PicPeter is a leader and senior manager with over 25 years of development experience in Government, NGOs and the private sector. As International Director in DFID he had responsibility for the development aspects of the UK’s multilateral partnerships, (including the World Bank, EU and UN), and for DFID’s trade, conflict and humanitarian work. 

Prior to joining Agulhas Peter was International Director of Tearfund, with responsibility for worldwide work with partners and disaster response and over 1000 staff. 

An economist with an excellent academic record, Peter combines analytical skills with a profound understanding of aid policy and operations and the international development system. He acted as Chief Economist in DFID and led the Economic Policy and Research Department. He is able to provide policy advice at the most senior levels and has particular experience of living and working in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. 

Peter has led change processes within organisations and the development of policy on measuring multilateral effectiveness, and on poverty reduction for both DFID and the DAC. His early work experience included two years as an ODI fellow in Malawi, three years of economic consultancy work and four years as a commercial manager in British Telecom. As an economic adviser in DFID he was one of the team that established the Aid Management Office in Bangladesh.
